Heck Yeah, Dinosaur Planet!

A blog dedicated to the cancelled Nintendo 64 game Dinosaur Planet,
which was instead released as Star Fox Adventures on the Gamecube.

Aside from images, fanart, and videos of the game, this blog will also post some articles, research, theories, and other interesting media on this scrapped gem. Occasionally, some media related to Star Fox Adventures and other cancelled Rareware games will be posted here.

This blog is run by Karruna Niara, also known as diablosIntellect.

Doodle of Krystal.
(god why I didn’t drew her old design, shame on meeee)
I lost my art folder. I’m so stupid I deleted like yestersday the copy on my usb key cause I needed space. #AHJDHJGSDFGHFS At least I saved a few, but I lost most of all my oldest art from 2006 and my very first oekakies, sobsob. :’(

Sorry to hear about that, mate. D:Blizzou is also a very nice artist who deserves a watch if you like her works. <:

First above we have the kind and courageous Krystal. Maybe some of you can recognize her? She’s now of Starfox team… well not really with that design though.

I drew her according to several in-game screenshots, but her designs changed so many times, it was hard to be consistent. I also had a poster from the E3 but the armour on her arm was different. (In that time in made it, the render alone wasn’t easy to found online)

The second artwork is Sabre, a loyal warrior from the Planet Animus.

I drew him according to several in-game screenshots. I also had a nice poster from the E3. So this is kinda like a mix of all my references I had, I tried to stay true to the N64 style also, while not making them too much complicated like a render. (Textures and markings)

You are meant to be together. It was your destiny. Together as one, you will bring peace.

I tried many times to get a simple, official-like artwork of General Scales, but all of theses resulted in references/doodles. These were all based on artworks/in-game-screen (I didn’t invented the poses!) and went more to make some references for him. Strangely enough, the black suit from SFA…I can’t remember being used in any of the game.

But I also have my final sketch for my version of it’s artwork. Just need to work on it.

Also, I’m doing the same for Randorn and Drakor. To make a short story with a long story, Randorn is a magiciant that will help Sabre and Krystal on their quest and supposedly knew Sabre’s father and Drakor is supposedly a dragon god (a Great Kamerian Dragon) that helped create the Spellstones. In SFA, Randorn is not even mentioned and you can fight Drakor, but he’s referenced as The Mutant and doesn’t have any other role than guarding the last spellstone.

I’m also working on a huge movie-like poster on Dinosaur Planet.

Also, if you are interested in Dinosaur Planet stuff or even Starfox Adventures, go check on tumblr fyeahdinosaurplanet also there’s a great article on unseen64 about it.

Posted this before when I first started the blog, but might as well have it here again.

PC4SH/MBlock is a wonderful artist, and aside from DP fanarts, she’s done some nice renditions of beta pokemon designs (which can be seen here if you look for them).

Kind of relevant I guess??I dunno, it’s still beta Rare, and it still merits mention.

(I do not own this discovery, this is my twin sister who found this)

I you’ve heard before some of the Dinosaur Planet tracks, you’d probably found too that they sound similar. In the very particular case of this piece; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdCe7aKoBNc (Know as Discovery Falls in Dinosaur Planet, the song was recycled the area Cape Claw in Star Fox Adventures)

Dinosaur Planet was an ambitious project for the Nintendo 64. After many struggle, the game was finally moved to the Gamecube and renamed Star Fox Adventures.

By the way, I know this isn’t a huge discovery, but I love finding music similarities in general and all new infos on DP is welcomed. If you too are interested in DP or cancelled/beta games, you should pay a visit @fyeahdinosaurplanet on tumblr and the Unseen64 article.

Okay, this isn’t NECESSARILY DP-related, but the similarity is pretty interesting. Plus, the tune itself is pretty nice.

Oh hey, look what popped up on that blog.

They also forgot to mention that it starred a brown wolf named Sabre, but I’ll let that slide for now.

Holy shoot, 50 followers!

Thank you all so much! ovo

Heh, and my main blog just hit 200 followers some time ago. Small world. XD

lynxen asked: Hahaha, you know what? Dunno if you're familiar with Neopets, but the main characters from The Darkest Faerie game remind me a lot of Krystal and Sabre, and do have their similarities. Roberta the Acara is this blue cat-like creature with magic abilities ( I'm guessing Krystal might've had some magic of her own, though probably wasn't her main skill ) and Tor, the yellow Lupe knight. The characters can even be switched out. Of course both games have their differences. Thought it was interesting.

… If I can just say something, I thought I was the only one who thought that. Glad to see I’m not alone in that thought. XD

Shoving this in the queue before I go on hiatus for a while.

I’m sorry, but my life’s just been really busy as of lately, so I haven’t had much time to refill the queue with textrips, analysises, screenshots, articles, and all that good stuff. Sorry, guys, but life comes first. Hopefully during the summer I’ll have enough free time to queue up some more stuff.

You guys are still free to ask me stuff or submit any interesting stuff you have! I’ll post them up on here! DP will never die, and neither will this blog! c:
